Hey, Folks!

My name is Natasha Ivery and I’m a 26 year old journalist, content creator and women warrior born and raised in Dayton, OH aka the Gem City. I’ve always been creative and the art of storytelling and the power of people (especially women) are two of my passions, along with reading. I’m sage and hood, a millenial grandma, the Black Refinery29 and don’t seek to be respectable. Patriarchy needs to be killed, capitalism is corny and dangerous and Black women are the end all be all, pioneers of EVERYTHING.

I’ve been in journalism for 10 years and hold a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with concentrations in Multi Platform Journalism and Women’s Gender/Sexuality Studies from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH.

My mission with KultHERed (pronounced like “culture”, just spelled differently) is to highlight stories that affect, uplift and educate women of color and marginalized groups of people with inclusive reporting and fresh, new stories with a twist on perspective not heard of anywhere else-stories to make you think, cry, laugh and take action.

Women of color are such an important and resilient marginalized group, but also the most disrespected and underserved in many areas, despite our numerous contributions to the world. I aim to change this narrative via media to highlight, inform and celebrate women of color the way we should be loved and listened to. We all have a story-it’s my job to tell them with drip, grace, empathy and accuracy. It’s do or die and in the words of Audre Lorde, your silence will not protect you.

I hope you find something you enjoy and learn something new within these stories. Grab your bestie, your grandma, your cousin and everyone else to read, share, learn and uplift the KultHER.
